.: Box Text
Prologue (NES Version)
The Gurgan quietly spoke...
This earthquake is but an omen.
The tremors that pulled
the crystals into the earth
and brought forth monsters
are nothing compared to the
darkness which is to come...
But, hope is not yet lost.
Four souls will take up the
quest of the Light.
And so it begins...
Four orphans have been
raised by the priest Topapa
in the remote village of Ur.
A Crystal has sunk into the
earth due to the earthquake,
and the four boys have come
in an adventurous mood.
They had only intended to
test their courage...
=================
Four stouthearted Warriors
shall trudge forward
and sweep away the Darkness
so that once again
the Crystal will shine
with the light of Hope...

Final Fantasy III introduces several things that became a staple in
the Final Fantasy series. This game gave us the first appearance of
Summoned Creatures: Ifrit; Shiva and Bahamut to name only a few. It also
introduced Classes such as Fighter, Thief, Ninja, Black Mage, White
Mage, and others. Each class could wield certain weapons or perform
certain tasks (like cast magic). Thieves could unlock locked doors that
would otherwise require you to purchase a key to open. Dragoons could
jump into the air and land on enemies. It was the Classes from this game
that led to the characters in future games as well as the Dressphers
System in Final Fantasy X-2.
Another thing about this game is the number of airships you get.
There are several different ones, each with their own speed and some
with special abilities such as being able to fly over mountains or turn
into a sub and explore underwater. |
